“Masked Men”

Masked Men
Growing up, I was always taught to be a “manly”man. Doing yard work, working on cars, building houses & farms, and doing everything that a man should do. Vulnerability was never something that was really done by the men around me, unless something detrimental happened. Due to this, I’m not comfortable exposing emotions that make me feel extremely vulnerable. For this series, I made photographs of men being vulnerable; masking their identities. It’s unfortunate how society has conditioned men to mask their emotions, which is what each muse embodied in these photos. The masks hide their identity from the viewer, so the viewer can focus on how the photo made them feel. Each man is represented with something that makes them vulnerable in some way. Let’s create spaces for men to be themselves and honor their vulnerability.
